When I think of summer, one of my favorite memories is eating tangerines from my grandparent’s backyard. They had two tangerine trees, a lemon tree and a grapefruit tree. Tangerines are still my favorite fruit today and smelling tangerine essential oil brings back happy memories. I like to use citrus whenever I can. The scent not only makes me happy, but it tastes great and is useful for cleaning as well.

Citrus Essential Oils

Phototoxic

Some oils contain ingredients that will cause a reaction when you use them and go out into the sun. Don’t worry if they are ingredients in a body wash or used in an inhaler or vaporizer. After using them, you must wait a minimum of 12 hours before going out into the sun. Citrus oils that are phototoxic are: bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, and lime.

/ (ˌfəʊtəʊˈtɒksɪk) /

adjective

  1. (of cosmetics, skin creams, etc) making the skin hazardously sensitive to sunlight

Bergamot

Bergamot is non-irritating and safe for all skin types. Bergamot is refreshing and nurturing and good for anxiety. To help with anxiety, mix 2 drops of bergamot and 2 drops of neroli in a carrier oil for your bath. To help with grief, mix bergamot with rose otto and sandalwood in a massage oil. For clean and clear skin that is oily or problematic, mix bergamot, sweet orange, and linaloe wood in your face oil.
